Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid, confirmed that the European The Super League is more important than ever to football.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are the two remaining clubs in the Super League project, which was launched in 2021. There were 12 clubs participating, but in the end almost all withdrew because of opposition from football fans.

Perez attended the annual general meeting of “The White King” and he insists that a Super League is now necessary after football faces an unprecedented crisis.

“It is a very serious situation. If we don’t act now football will not survive,” Perez said.

“The main problem is that there are administrators who act without consideration for the fans. European football does not belong to the UEFA president. Or is it Spain when it comes to La Liga football?”

“The Super League is more important than ever. The aim is to provide the best football and the clubs are the ones who control their destiny.”

Perez also spoke about this ahead of the European Court of Justice ruling on December 21 that UEFA and FIFA have jurisdiction. A law that would block the creation of the Super League and punish the teams involved?

The decision will be based on the interpretation of EU law. And once the decision is made, the matter will be sent back to the court in Spain to be used in the Super League case.

Previously, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin criticized the side that supported the Super League. The league called him selfish and greedy. Comparing them to the wolves in Little Red Riding Hood. And his words were backed by La Liga president Javier Tebas.
